The Appearances of Jesus after His Resurrection are of great importance. – HIS Resurrection and Eternal Life are essential beliefs in Salvation. Rom 10:9-10, etc. For more detail about these appearances, read my Booklet on “1 Corinthians and Communion.”

The Seven Sayings of JESUS on The Tree (Cross)

 1. LUK 23:34  Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.  (They cast lots to divide HIS garments.  LUK 23:34, JOH 19:23, MAT 27:35)  – The first saying when upon The Stake - Forgive Them.

 2. JOH 19:26  When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!":27 He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.  – HIS mother had gone too far to go back into her natural family. She was now a member of The Family of GOD, and John was a example of a Christian (and the longest lived of the 12 disciples.)

 3. LUK 23:43  And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise." (It was about the sixth hour.  It was dark from the sixth hour until the ninth hour LUK 23:44,  MAT 27:45, MAR 15:33.) – No matter how low one may be, HE will always save them and meet the cry of the needy with salvation and Eternal Life.

 4. MAT 27:46  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?", that is "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

also MAR 15:34. – The price of sin has always been separation from intimacy with GOD. The Father withdrew His intimate presence as Jesus was about to drink the cup of GOD's fury or wrath.   Psa 69:21, Isa 51:22, Jer 25:15 & 28, Eze 23:32, 2Cor 5:21....

 5. JOH 19:28  After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!"  (A bowl of vinegar and a sponge JOH 19:29, MAT 27:48, MAR 15:36.) – JESUS received (drank the sour cup) HE had so desperately tried to avoid in the Garden. From this time (as in the 5th Feast) things would come to a quick conclusion.

 6. LUK 23:46  And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, 'into Your hands I commend My spirit.'"  And having said this, He breathed His last.– The Spirit is Eternal  and immediately returns to GOD Who gave it.

 7. JOH 19:30  So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

The Order of these 7 Sayings might be adjusted by some; however, as I see it, there are only two that could be moved:   The 2nd saying could be moved to the 3rd, but we know it was earlier than the 4th.  It seems Jesus would relate to His mother during the first 3 hours He was hanging there, and it was dark for 3 hours in the afternoon. Thus the 3rd must fit in order after the 2nd and before the 4th.

The 5th and 6th fit into order easily from the context. The 6th might be the 7th, but the  fact Jesus “cried with a loud voice,” places it 6th in order and not the 7th - when He had no strength to speak loudly as He labored to breath His last.        The 7th saying is written only in John 19:30 but John places it after the 5th saying.– The 7th  is always a conclusion of former things as shown in John’s Book of Revelation. The 7th brings a conclusion to the former events. With His death, The Sacrifice Ends, and His death closes the case. “It is finished.”

With the 2nd and 6th statements in place, and believing these 4 Gospel accounts are each in chronological order, all the sayings can be fixed 1 through 7.
