  1.     In Mat 5 and 19, Jesus discusses the 6th Commandment - about Adultery…. HE agrees with The Law that was given to Moses in Deu 24. A man must give his wife a Written Document to divorce his wife or she is only “Put Away” (or separated) - If anyone marries those who are only separated, they commit adultery!

Paul also agrees with Moses’ Laws on Divorce but Paul expands on those Laws by offering women some rights of divorce as well as men. 1Cor 7:15+

  2.  So the New Testament treats Divorce in much the same way as when Moses wrote GOD’s Laws in Deuteronomy.  GOD still ‘Hates Separation’ and the sins of heart that are involved in Separation.

In Jeremiah 3, we see that The LORD divorced his wife Israel and sent her away. Judah remained His wife enabling Jesus to be born from the Virgin Mary. We see when Christ Jesus died and rose again He made a way for Israel, Judah and The Gentiles to be married to Him. Though The Law in Deu 24 permits divorce and remarriage, but forbids remarriages to her former husband after a woman has remarried another.

We see in The New Testament that The LORD will be able to reconcile all things unto Himself….

 3.  Romans 7 deals with the fact under The Law, a wife has no rights to obtain a divorce. However, in 1Cor 7:15 we read that if a man abandons his wife, she is not bound even as a husband is not bound if his wife abandons him. Paul goes on to say if they are “loosed” (divorced it would seem) they do not sin if they marry.

 4.    In 1Tim 3:2 & 12 and Tit 1:6 Paul states that an Elder must be a “One Woman Man” or not a bigamist.

We must use the Whole Word of GOD to gain a better understanding in the dreadful event of a divorce. So we see here too “The Law was given because of transgression” (or sin.) Gal 3:19
