Outline and Concepts in Galatians:

The Only Gospel 1:6-10

Given to Paul who is approved an Apostle by Jesus and God The Father 1:11-12

 Paul’s Jewish Background 1:13-14

Paul Trained by Jesus in The Wilderness for 3 Years 1:16-18

1:6 I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him, Who called you into His Grace, unto another gospel. (There is Only One Gospel from God.)

Paul’s Visit to Jerusalem 2:1

After 14 Years, This ties to the Acts 15 Meeting

 Called to The Uncircumcised 2:7

Peter, James and John approve 2:9

Peter in Antioch 2:11 Prior to Acts 15 Peter favored Jews at the table 2:12-14 But was Withstood by Paul before them all 2:14

Paul deliberately lists Peter’s confrontation in Antioch last. Thus leaving Peter with the problem, and Not as the one who had supported Paul in Acts 15. Peter’s problem with prejudice aids Paul in his strong separation from The Jews – who desired Law and circumcision to be imposed on Gentiles.  Paul writes God is against any Law as a means of Justification or Right relationship with God. Paul sees The Law as a temporary means to restrain The Jews until Jesus Christ is revealed.

2:15 We Jews who believe, Know a man is Justified by The Faith OF Jesus Christ. Paul keeps it simple - Faith (Holy Spirit relationship) in Christ has replaced The Law (or Torah for NT Believers.)

2:10 Dead to flesh yet alive while Living in Christ

2:17 The problem is The Flesh - the natural man of sin and death

2:19-20  I live no more in the flesh but I’m crucified with Christ, as Christ Lives in me....

Dead to any Law 2:19. Paul makes a strong point about being DEAD to the Flesh Life, and places His New Life Only in Jesus’ Death (and Resurrection.)

3:1-5 You Received The Spirit by Faith–  Faith not in but OF Christ and Faith is being Connected to Christ.!!!

3:6-9 Abraham believed and his Faith was counted as Righteousness

3:10- The Just shall live by Faith, law is not Faith and cannot produce faith

3:10-13  Cursed is everyone who hangs an a tree.

Jesus bore the curse of the Law for us who believe, having become a curse for us because He fully took our sin and paid for sin through His death.

The direct reference to this is in Deut. 21:22-23 Which deals with rebels who is stoned to death. This emphasis shows the vast trouble of sin and the need for the community to see the shame sin caused.  Other References which might  fit: Gen 3:17 The Serpent on the tree of good and evil.... or The Serpent hung on a pole by Moses, a Nehushtan (idol) that was later broken by Hezekiah 2Kin 18:4.

Jesus said He must be lifted up, as the serpent was lifted up Joh 3:14 3:10-14 HE thus Redeemed us from Curse of The Law
