Note “by HIS Own Blood” and NOT ‘With.’ The Blood was shed and given here on Earth at Passover to guarantee The New Covenant. We have the memory of That Gift and The Blood is a continuing Reality by Faith.
The Idea given in The O T ‘to afflict the soul’ Lev 23:27, 29 & 32 Seems in Hebrews to relate not to Fasting and fleshly activities. These are not the GODly plan for The High Sabbath of Atonement. But rather we must deal with our attitudes and relationship with GOD.
9:12 HE ‘entered once by HIS Own Blood into The Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.’ . ‘Will Cleanse your Conscience’. (See also 9:9, 9:14, 10:2, 10:22, 13:18 dealing with conscience.) It seems HE did not have Blood when HE Appeared to HIS Disciples -
‘Do not hold ME now, for I have not yet ascended to MY Father.’ Joh 20:17 Would indicate the Atonement work was not yet done, until after HE first had ascended into Heaven...
The activities described in Hebrews 9 show there was a ceremony carried out in Heaven in the Heavenly Tent and near the Ark of The Covenant in Heaven. (The patters of which, Moses built.) The Sacrifice was finished as He died, but His reconciliation work is ongoing.
9:15 ‘HE is the Mediator of The New Testament,... by HIS Death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first testament.’ The Day of Atonement in JESUS,-
9:20 ‘This is the Blood of The Covenant’ Mat 26:28, 1Cor 11. HIS Death establishing The Will and Contract placed within The Heavenly ARK of MERCY – The Ark of The (New) Testament in Heaven.
