6:19 JESUS entered into GOD’s Presence ‘The Innermost behind the curtain’, deals with The Day of Atonement - JESUS removes the guilt, gives Mercy and provides Access to GOD. Per the O T Pattern.

Thus the end of Chapter 6 brings us again to JESUS and away from focusing on our past.

Chapter 7    –Commandment: 6 Do not Kill

– Why do we need sacrifices and a High Priest? Because we fail to be perfect -    Only HE is Perfect. Only a Perfect Sacrifice could implement The New Covenant.

 - Purpose: JESUS was The Passover Lamb and now we learn HE is also The High Priest.

HE offered Himself and HE is the High Priest who offers Himself for Atonement. The legitimate rights for JESUS being a High Priest are discussed in Chapter 7.

7:1 Begins by showing Melchizedek as the ‘King-Priest’ which introduces JESUS’ More Perfect Work 7:3 ‘resembling the Son of GOD he remains a Priest continually... and 7:2 'King of Righteousness and King of Peace.’ thus pointing to JESUS the More Perfect High Priest and King....

7:11 ‘Atonement’ - (this Greek word used only here and in Luk 1:45) should rather be ‘fulfilment’ or ‘performance’. The connection of these two verses connect - the womb of Mary was a type of The Most Holy Place. Where JESUS was the only One of His kind. The Only Begotten and Beloved SON of GOD.... And The Only High Priest and King, Who is bringing us into Son-ship with The Father.

7:1+ shows Melchisedec receiving Tithes from Abraham - whose decedents were Levites.

7:26 JESUS “being guiltless.” is unlike The O T High Priest who needed sacrifices, special clothing, and washings to allow him to enter into the Most Holy Place. We now see similar but Heavenly things are used to help us come into The Throne in Heaven.

7:26 ”For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.” KJV

7:27 The High Priest offers sacrifices Daily - Reinforces our need for Daily Access to The Throne through JESUS.-The Perfect High Priest. We must not ignore the help we have available every day. Like The Communion Service, we might observe The Passover only once a year, but we must continually have HIS Sacrifice in our Heart and Mind. The text does not limit it to once a year in 1Cor 11, but says “‘as oft as you do this’, remember HIS death until HE comes.” The N T does not stress certain times or days, but stresses Heart and Mind changes while repeating GOD’s eternal Plan- The Same yesterday, today and forever.

Chapter 8   – Commandment: 6 Do Ont Kill

 - Purpose: To show why JESUS was Sacrificed and Resurrected.

 – Why did GOD do it this way ? The pattern was set long ago, when Cain and Able were bring their offerings to celebrate The Harvest GOD had given to them. Each of us has received so much from GOD and our desire is to be Thankful. Tribes make offerings, we have Thanksgiving, but are we doing things the way GOD has directed us? Chapter 8 introduces us to GOD’s Pattern for Atonement.

8:1, 1:3, 13, 10:12, 12:2 Each Repeat JESUS ‘sat down at “the Right Hand’” showing HIS relationship in Power and Glory - as well as being our Atonement and Intercessor.
