Atonement means ‘to make Reconciliation’ ‘cover sin’ ‘be merciful’ and ‘cleanse’ The People of God. Note JESUS is both Merciful - with respect to man–  and Faithful with respect to GOD and HIS Word. HE serves in Heaven as the mediator of The New Covenant (between GOD and Man.). Heb 8:6, 9:15, 12:24

  Chapter 3:2-10

III – Commandment: 3 Do not take The Name of The Lord thy God in Vain...

3- JESUS came in HIS Father’s Name and HE has received a name above all.

- Purpose: JESUS is Lifted Up in Heaven as a High Priest to Reconcile Believers to GOD

Hebrews 3:1 “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; 2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.” KJV

JESUS and Moses are faithful examples in honoring GOD. Moses in building The Tent, Law and Sacrifices shown to him for a meeting place with GOD, and JESUS in building The Church and Body of Christ - as God’s Temple.

   Chapters: 3:11 thru Chapter 4

IV – Commandment: 4 Remember and Keep Holy, The Work and The Sabbaths of God.

4- GOD wants us to Hear and Obey so we can have Rest and Peace

- Purpose: GOD’s rest is dealt with in terms of Israel’s failures and in The Rest now available to Believers.

 - Why Rest on the Seventh Day? It’s the pattern The LORD set from The Beginning.

In Chapter 3, Rest - is associated with The Promised Land or Canaan – but that’s just part of the concept we see presented in Hebrews. Rest is believing in GOD and in The LORD we are blessed as we are obedient. All our struggles cease as we rest in Christ.

3:18 ”And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest” - How can we enter into Rest-Relationship unless we listen to HIM and desire to live HIS Life and HIS Word?

Hebrews 4:1 “Let us Respect the promise of entering into His rest,” HIS Rest - is our relationship with HIM in Christ.- Apart from HIM there is no rest. - The periodic Sabbath rests included a Weekly Sabbath, 7 Annual Festivals, the 7th Year Land Rest, Jubilees, and The Millennium - These are all shadows of HIS Plan and Nature for us to grow and be blessed.

Passover purchased our Rest.  Pentecost teaches GOD’s Nature. Trumpets gathers us into His body.  Atonement draws us into HIS Presence. At Tabernacles we live In HIS Presence, and The Last Judgment Day insists we Respect (fear) and obey HIM.
