This diagram shows the 7 verses which contain the phrase “first (day) of the week” in the KJV -and in most English translations.
These should be translated “first of the Sabbaths” – They all refer to the start of the 7 weeks between Passover and Pentecost.
During Springtime, this interval starts after 6 PM Saturday evening and includes several days at the start of that first week. Most often these events center around Sunday - with Saturday evening Sunday, and Monday being included….
The citations in Acts 20:6-7 and 1Cor 16:2 include Unleavened Bread and The start of the 7 Week count leading to Pentecost. This should give us a clue that the Early Churches were Sabbath and Feast Observing Christians.
SUNDAY is not the emphasis !!! - But after 300 years of Sun worship, when Costantine passed Sunday Laws…. Most Christians abandoned The Sabbath because it seemed out of fashion or too difficult. Rather we should recognize GOD’s Commandments including The Sabbaths, are not grievous but are intended to be a blessing.
