4:9 ‘There remains a Sabbatismos Rest to the People of GOD’  quoted from The LXX in Exodus 16:29-30 – just before The 10 Commandments were written from Sinai. That ‘Rest still Remains.’

4:14 “We Have a Great High Priest, JESUS The Son of GOD” who is able to feel our infirmities and was tested without sin”.... This testing in HIS flesh Perfected HIS relationship with us – as a human being. Thus helping us to identify with HIM.

4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  Refers to our ongoing need and continuing access to Atonement – Where we find ‘Mercy and Grace.’  Peace, rest and reconciliation with GOD are always available as we enter the Throne through JESUS.

 JESUS received all authority in everything to The Church - and we in HIM can have all The Father gives us -(within HIS Perfect Wisdom and Will.) The Giftings of The Spirit contain HIS Power surrounded by instruction form The Holy Spirit. Atonement provides access through JESUS to The Father and HIS Spirit is living in us while we live in HIM. Act 17:28 All these things work together for good to them who are called.... Rom 8:28, Eph 4:16.

 “We have boldness to enter through The Blood of JESUS” - not of our self - but in HIM and in HIS Sacrifice, we sit and learn at JESUS’ feet.

 Heb 3 & 4 deal with Rest and; Israel’s failure, GOD’s Promise and Discipline, and Finally The Need we have for Rest in Body, Soul and Spirit.   – The idea of freedom in The Promised Land is common in The O T, but this is not the goal in Hebrews for Rest nor Atonement, etc... The benefits are ongoing and still coming. We do have the earnest of our inheritance. 2Cor 5:5, Eph 1:14, and this ongoing activity is the center of the New Testament.

 4:16 Payment for Crimes was completed in Christ JESUS at Passover - when we are in HIM, we have total forgiveness from all past sins - BUT HE is LORD, and HE disciplines, chastens and scourges us per Heb 12 - Not because of our past but for our Future.

 The Reconciliation and Righteousness we have is in Christ, Rom 1:17, Php 3:9  2Cor 5:19 ”To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

        The Text in Chapters 3 & 4 uses the ‘Day’ and ‘People’ of Biblical History -The victory by The Maccabees in 164 BC was certainly in the mind of many Jewish Zealots - but this is NOT mentioned in Hebrews. The constant centering on Christ in Hebrews is the main focus, and that should be where we look as well.

    Chapters 4:18 thru 6:1

 – Commandment: 5- Honor The Father and Bless The Church Family

 - Purpose: JESUS does exactly as The Father Directs HIM. We should do the same.... The O T forerunners are discussed using: Moses, Melchizedek, and The High Priest. JESUS is Better and Perfect in every respect to Officiate on The Day of Atonement in Heaven.

 – Why should we honor HIS Name? If we are His Family, we should Love and Respect our Father. We should desire to build up HIS Kingdom by doing as HE instructs us.

 The Leviticus 16 details, for The O T day of Atonement, are great shadows of The Reality we see in Hebrews. But in Lev 16, we see no personal gifts - only national ones and High Priestly ones, as representing The people....

 Hebrews does not state the specifics of The Day JESUS presented Himself in Heaven, but Hebrews clearly shows the O T types and The Perfect Work JESUS does. There is also no limit on when we can come boldly to The Throne....
