Acts of The Apostles as Led by The Holy Spirit
Introduction Luke was a gentile physician who had met Paul as Paul was headed to Rome, Col 4:14. Luke had written his Gospel and then wrote The Book of Acts to give a historic account of how The Gospel of Jesus Christ had been preached throughout the Roman Empire. Paul evidently was the person who transmitted this information to Luke while they were in prison in Rome. Of course, the Holy Spirit was at work as these two books were written down, 2Pet 1:21.
As we look at the Books of Luke and Acts, we do not see the same kinds of New Covenant Doctrine we see in most of Paul’s other Books. Both Luke and Acts are written from the point of view of The Old Covenant -
We can see differences between The Gospel of John verses the Gospel of Luke for example. The New Covenant that Paul and Luke begins to reveal, leads us more fully into The Complete Plan of Salvation. The Book of Acts is the key transition from The Center at Jerusalem towards The Center of The Lord Jesus Christ and His Church.
Theme of Acts -
Acts gives us an account of The Activity of The Holy Spirit as GOD worked in The Lives of The Apostles. In light of The Set Times and Salvation Plan of GOD, Acts reveals The Implementation of The Feast of Pentecost.
In addition, we can plainly see these activities involve The Members and Leadership of The Church. This is the work involved with The Day of Trumpets. We see in 1Corinthians Chapter 12, The Giftings of The Holy Spirit are followed with The Giftings of Leadership within The Membership of The Church. In the Old Testament, we see the Trumpets were used to direct the Leaders and People of Israel. In the New Covenant, the direction comes through The Holy Spirit... We see The Holy Spirit is directly involved with each member of The Church and more powerfully involved with directing those who are called into leadership.
Thus the Book of Acts follows the same pattern we see in The Gospels: The Holy Spirit came upon and into Jesus to direct and empower His ministry, and the same Holy Spirit continues to empower and direct The Church. Paul and Luke were led by The Holy Spirit to write The Books of Luke and Acts. The Baptism of Water and The Baptism of The Holy Spirit are involved with Jesus and with people as they are led by GOD -
We can see The Set Times and Plan of Salvation follows in the same order as given in The Shadows of The Feast Days given to Moses in Leviticus 23 for example. However, in Acts 2 the distinct lines between Believing, Being Filed, and Baptism can take place all in the same day. But the order of The Plan must be observed:
First, one Must Believe and Be Born Again – Passover
Then The Holy Spirit begins to empower The Believer – Pentecost
Then The Believer begins to be obedient – Tabernacles
If this order is not observed, the process results in Religion rather than Relationship. The Church and every believer must continue to follow this same pattern as we walk in The Way The Truth and The Life. Jesus must become Savior, and Lord. The Holy Spirit must be allowed to lead each believer, and GOD The Father must abide within each believer.... Of course, GOD is everywhere.
