Matthew writes to a Jewish audience and he pays a lot of attention to The 10 Commandments. Chapters 1 thru 7 give the some details. This section of the New Testament provides some insight into the way Jesus viewed The Law. Chapters 5 to 7 in Matthew are called ‘The Sermon on The Mount.’
Very few Christians look at this section of scripture as commentary on The 10 commands. The context of The 10 Commandments gives special background to Jesus’ comments and the respect He placed on them.
