Judgment...
We see from the Word List and the Commandment Lists, that ‘Righteousness,’ ‘Judgment’ and ‘Justice’ are connected with nearly everything in Romans . Paul ties this all together in chapters 2 and 3 to show us that ‘judgment’ is mostly God’s business. God gave The Law and He gave His Son to satisfy The Penalty and Curse of The Law. (GOD expects us to use His Law in a righteous way with faith -
GOD is patient and gentle toward the repentant and even toward those who need a little time to repent Rom 2:4. But remember God does not pardon those who continue life with a hard heart 2:5.... We too must forgive those who have done ought against us Mat 6:14-
Romans 2: ‘5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:’ also Heb 9:27
The idea ‘God is a Just Judge’ is strongly emphasized in Romans’ first two chapters....
Paul goes on to show The Lawless Gentiles do by nature what is right and just 2:15. Both The Law and nature testify of God’s righteousness -
The ‘Law of Faith’ 3:27Paul compares ‘the law’ and ‘faith’ showing it is ‘faith’ we need. God has given The Law -
Works of The Law cannot Justify Rom 4:2, Gal 2:16.... What is Paul saying? Works of The law cannot justify...
– Sacrifice is finished at The Passover by Jesus’ death and resurrection Rom 1:16.
– No one was made perfect by The Law -
– We must be born again -
Rom 3:23-
God is righteous 3:22, GOD is JUST Rom 3:26,
Justified by Faith Romans 4
In Chapter 4, Paul uses Abraham as an example of Faithful Living, and the result: God accepted him as righteous or justified.... God rewards Abraham based on faith (God stopped Abraham from killing Isaac for example. Though Abraham failed with Ishmael, Abraham and Sarah brought forth Isaac though they were as good as dead in old age.)
Faith is the key word in Chapter 4, and Paul shows Faith connects us with – God’s Grace resulting in Justification / Righteousness.
