10 Commands      A New Testament Summary.

This is written to summarize The 10 Commandments as they are found in The New Testament.

Two times in The Old Testament (O T) God listed the 10 Commandments. These two lists are found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. These were given to Moses only 40 years apart, yet we can see some differences in the Two Listings. The concepts are the same but the details have changed somewhat. (The 4th, 5th, and the 10th are changed just a bit, between the first and the second giving of The Law.... - Between Exodus and Deuteronomy were 40 years of wandering in The Wilderness of Sin....)

Then we see God promises to give His beloved Children New Hearts and New Minds that they could keep and remember His Commandments. This idea was first mentioned by Moses in Deu 30:6, then repeated in Jeremiah 31:33 and several times elsewhere in the O T. God also promises to give them a New Covenant which they could keep with their New Hearts and Minds.

Nearly 1,500 years after Moses, Jesus became a man and he established The New Testament (N T) through His death and resurrection. Mat 26:28, Mark 14:24, etc. We would expect to see some changes in the wording and presentation of The Ten Commandments - as they are given to God’s Beloved Children in The New Testament. When we read through the N T, we should expect to see these Commandments listed in the same order as God first gave them to Moses. The same concepts should easily be seen - if we humbly pray and look for them.

You are a letter from Christ written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:3  Heb 8:10, 10:16, 1Pet 2;4-5,

God wrote His laws on tablets of stone (Exodus 31:18), but He doesn't write on hearts of stone. Instead, He writes on repentant, converted hearts (Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 36:26).

We are Living Letters:Letters of recommendation...for those who brought us to the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:1-2).

Letters of emancipation...from our slavery to sin (John 8:36).Letters of adoption...as sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:15-16). Letters of clemency...from a death sentence we deserve (Romans 6:23). Letters of hope...to a lost and dying world (1 Corinthians 1:18-25).  Love letters… from our Savior (Ephesians 2:4-5).

Jesus is the Word, and, if you know Jesus, you are His letter (John 1:1; 1Cor 1:18)
