(After Pentecost in 1Corinthians 12:1-
Paul begins to deal with The Church Body in 12:12-
The Trumpets in the Old Testament were used for calling The People to attention, and for calling the leadership to assemble. 1Corinthians 12:12-
The Trumpets were used to gather The Elders, and to announce The Feasts and Assemblies of the Congregation. The Camp of Israel was also called to war by the Trumpets.
Nehemiah Chapter 8 gives us the pattern regarding Trumpets. On the 1st Day of The 7th Month (The Day of Trumpets) The Children of Israel found The Book of The Law and gathered to hear and understand what they should do. The Leadership gave instruction and understanding. This is the same pattern we see in The New Testament Church. GOD is the Head, Leaders are placed in The Body, and Members are called together and to understand Scripture.
Neh 8:1 “And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel. 2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.”
Several points can be seen in Nehemiah Chapter 8 which apply to The N T Church.
– The People of GOD had left Babylon and were rebuilding the walls of The City. The Body of Christ is being gathered out from the world of Mystery Babylon, and we are being built up.
– The Word of GOD has been discovered and leaders are helping the people understand.
– The People discovered The Feast of Trumpets is to be celebrated on the First Day of The Seventh Month. Neh 8:2
– The Joy of The LORD is our strength Neh 8:10, see also Psa 81:1
In 1Corinthians 12, we see the same pattern from Nehemaih is given to The Church. Each Member has a proper placement and activity in The Body -
There are certain persons who are called into leadership in specific ways. No one member is in control of all the functions -
The Book of Ephesians has a Main Theme with respect to The Feast of Trumpets-
or The Relationships of The Body of Christ and it's Members. Like 1Corinthians, Ephesians follows the Feast Day Pattern.... Ephesians can thus be used as a second witness along with 1Corinthians – with respect to The Pattern of The Feast Days of GOD. Ephesians concentrates on The Body while 1Corinthians deals with The Body mainly in the last half of Chapter 12.
The Book of Revelation is even more extensively organized in the same Feast Day Pattern. Revelation details are shown in a separate drop down menu at www.SeventhDayChurchOfGOD.net The Book of Revelation and it’s use of The Feast Days, is much more complex than can be dealt with here in this study on 1Corinthians.
