The Following Section deals more specifically with Unleavened Bread:

Before the Passover Season, each family was instructed to remove Leaven from their house. Paul uses this pattern to give The Church some real life examples about what this means. What is The House of GOD?  Paul shows us The Church is The House of GOD. (2Cor 5:1, etc.)               How do we remove Leaven from The House of GOD? Paul uses the words ‘Puffed Up’ as a type of Leaven in The Bread which is The Body of Christ 1Cor 10:16-17. (See The First Diagram) Paul uses ‘Puffed Up’ five times in a negative way to point out sin which must be removed from The Church. Then after The Communion Service Instructions in 1Cor 11:23+, Paul adds the Sixth ‘Puffed Up’ in 1Cor 13:4. Here Paul states ‘Love is NOT Puffed Up.’ The difference is stark and it stands out. Sin must be removed or we cannot show pure love.

Another example of Leaven and Unleaven is shown in Chapter 5, where Paul instructs The Church To Keep The Feast of Unleavened Bread in The New Covenant way. – Where we have been given a new heart and new mind, to have Communion with GOD in ‘sincerity and truth.’

The old man cannot come into fellowship with Christ until one is born again. (John 3:3,7 and 1Pet 1:23.) The old nature can only bring hate and sin.

1Cor 5:8 ”Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” This is a remarkable section in The New Testament. It may seem rather Old Covenant, but verse 7 reminds us Christ is our Passover. 1Cor 5:7 ”Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:”

Paul gives several warnings about how we should partake of The Communion Service. In these warnings, we can see The LORD’s chastening and judgment are critical for Christian growth and maturity. Paul uses The Passover as a pattern for The Church.

The 5 verses which have the words “puffed up”

1 Corinthians 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

1 Corinthians 4:18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

1 Corinthians 4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

1 Corinthians 5:2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity vaunts not itself, is not puffed up,

The first 5 are instructions to remove sin and pride from The Church. The 6th shows when we have agape love, we are not puffed up - sin and pride should have no part in our love. So we see Paul intertwines Unleavened Bread with ‘Puffed Up’ in such a wonderful way, and he ties O T instructions with the needs in The Church.
