The Book of Galatians provides an introductory message with respect to how Gentiles must be saved. Galatians should be read before Colossinas to insure Believers have an understanding of why Paul insists Believers must be saved by Grace through Faith and that they must be filled with The Holy Spirit. Thus the concepts of Passover and Pentecost were essential for every believer. This leads us to the next step in The Salvation Plan, and Paul uses the same pattern GOD gave to Moses, in using the Harvest Seasons and Holy Convocations. He also uses the 10 Commandments as an outline in both Colossinas (and Galatians.)
Why The Commandments? GOD set down The 10 Commandments as an outline of Who HE wants us to be, and how we should live to bless one another. (In the O T, these were written on stone tablets, but in The N T, we see these 10 concepts written in believers’ hearts and minds.) For more info, see The Main Menu on NT Commands.
Let’s go through Colossians verse by verse and see how Paul uses The 10 Commandments as his outline.

‘The Body’ is the title used by Paul to describe The Church with respect to The Day of Trumpets. This can be seen all through Ephesians and in 1Corinthians 12 for example. In Colossians 1:18, 22, 24, 2:11, 17, 19, and 3:15 Paul uses this term to connect The Church with The Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Colossians 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:Colossians 1:23–24 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; 24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
Colossians 2:10–1110 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Colossians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Colossians 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
[In ‘The Body’ we can see Paul connects the Themes of The Commandments and The Day of Trumpets. This will be seen more as we get into Chapter 2.]
