    Matthew writes to a Jewish audience and he pays a lot of attention to The 10 Commandments. Chapters 1 thru 7 give the some details. This section of the New Testament provides some insight into the way Jesus viewed The Law.  Chapters 5 to 7 in Matthew are called ‘The Sermon on The Mount.’

     Very few Christians look at this section of scripture as commentary on The 10 commands. The context of The 10 Commandments gives special background to Jesus’ comments and the respect He placed on them.

1. No other Gods - Jesus' human line is chosen and HE is begotten from The Holy Spirit 1:18

 2. No Idols - Jesus is Approved by

John's Baptism and By HIS FATHER 3:13-17

and resists Temptation by The Devil 4:1-11


3. HIS Name - It Is Written 4:4, 6, 7, 10

4. Sabbath Blessings - Beatitudes 5:1-12


5. Honor Father & Mother - Salt & Light

5:13-16 Jot or Title shall Not Pass 17-20


6. No Murder - Do Not Hate 5:21-26


7. No Adultery - Do Not Look Upon 5:26-32


8. Do Not Steal -  Tithes & Riches 6:1-34


9. No False Witness - 5:33-37 & 7:1-28


10. Do Not Covet - The Above Commands 4-9
