  The KEY Theme of Colossians:

Comments:

2:10-11 These Believers are uncircumcised in the flesh but are circumcised in Heart.

2:13 They are forgiven all sins and trespasses

2:14 The Ordinances which were against them (The OT required all to be Circumcised before they could keep The Passover or become a Member of The Family of GOD. BUT in Acts 15 this was no longer required for Gentiles to be accepted into The Church Body.)

2:15 Jesus enabled the Holy Spirit to be poured into those who Believe in His death and resurrection. The powers of Rome and Judaism were overpowered through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection.

2:16 Let NO MAN Judge You in your Respect of:

  – In Meat or in Drink - Refers to a celebration or festival.

  – An Holyday - a ‘Holy Convocation’

  – A New Moon - The year started with the New Moon in The Spring as set out in Exodus for the first Passover. The 7th New Moon was celebrated on ‘The Day of Trumpets.’

  – The Sabbath Days - In The New Testament, The plural ‘Sabbath days’ always refers to one of The Annual Festivals.

The only day of the year which matches all of these conditions is The Day of Trumpets.  It is the only Sabbath Day in the year that is Celebrated at the sighting of the New Moon.

The Day of Trumpets starts at The Sighting of The 7th New Moon. This occurs in The Fall just as we celebrate the Fall Harvest Season. In Christian Culture, we celebrate Thanksgiving. The Harvest Seasons were created by GOD to give mankind a pattern of Salvation. The Natural then gives us a pattern of The Spiritual and GOD’s Word confirms His plan with these two witnesses.

The Old Testament is mostly centered in Natural things while The New Testament is centered mostly in Spiritual Things. Paul brings both the natural and the spiritual together. In this way, we are better able to see exactly what GOD has in mind as we follow His Salvation Plan.

See the Appendix on The Next Page for more info about The Day of Trumpets.
