10 Commands in Romans - Ten Times
Romans 10 Commands : Paul uses The Law and The Commandments to reveal the contrast between the Old Nature - Under The Law vs The Loving Righteousness of God demonstrated in Christ Jesus His Son. The Law serves to reveal God’s Righteous desire for good behavior, but only The New Nature can measure up to that goodness. As for the Natural Man, The Law sets an impossible standard which then results in sin and death. The law then provides for animal sacrifices to atone for sin. But these also brought condemnation due to the constant reminder of the cost of sin and the continuing need for sacrifices....
Here are 10 times in Romans, where Paul connects The Law with The Sinful Nature and thus reveals man’s hopeless condition under sin and death. Paul also reveals God’s gracious provisions for our redemption.
-- Overview, First: In The whole Book of Romans Paul steps in order through The 10 Commandments to reveal The Righteousness of God and then opens up The Righteous Love and Grace of God as Provided in Christ Jesus and through The Holy Spirit.
God is Righteous in everything HE does. Even in choosing to save those whom HE predetermines to save (at certain times in history.) For HE will save all people in the end because none can resist HIM as HE chooses to deal with them.... So that Calvin’s 5 Points will eventually come to everyone in due time. During these 6,000 years man has proven he is incapable of righteous living based on man’s works.
2 -- Rom 1:18 -27 God reveals mankind is reprobate and lustful.
3 -- Rom 1:28-32 List of Sins - as written in The Commandments.
4 -- Rom 2:1- 10 reveals God is Righteous in Judgement. Man is not to judge in that his sinful nature cannot see righteously nor graciously.
5 -- Rom 2:21-25
6 – Rom 3 Here Paul uses The Law to show The Jews they are breaking The Law when they openly blaspheme God for sending His Son as His Propitiation for sin. Paul lists several of The Commands and reveals that only in The Faith of Christ Jesus is there any righteousness.
7 -- Rom 7:1-6 We are become dead to The Law being married to Christ and in Christ’s Death. 7:7 The Law said, Do not covet, 7:8 but sin taking occasion brought me under sin unto death. 7:14-21 I am carnal , sold under sin. I do that I want not to do....
8 – Rom 8:2-13 What The Law could not do: The Spirit wars against the flesh and brings freedom and life in Christ.... as it brings the flesh into obedience in The Spirit.
9 -- Rom 13:1-9 God has placed authorities to implement HIS justice during The Pentecostal Age - Such as HE did with Saul in giving the people what they desired, even though kings were not the best choice. Do not resist authorities because God has placed them in control. Do good works even in the presence of evil doers. They will be judged. Love one another, love fulfills the law. (Then Paul lists the last 5 commands believers should not do.)
10 -- Rom 16:17-20 In closing, Paul warns against those who cause division and offence contrary to the doctrine ye have learned. The God of Peace will bruise Satan under your feet shortly.... (Justice and judgment will come to the hurt of them who are the enemies of God’s Plan.) Be wise to that which is good and simple concerning evil.
