The omission of a King in Jerusalem is important in that Gentiles still rule and Jesus is the true King that must come through Jerusalem and by Israel’s fallen race....
Presented here is the thought I have regarding The Commands in The NT being identical in intent though different is detail....
The thought that The NT was the intent of Israel’s Return.... God’s plan for salvation was always the same 7 step program.... Ezra and Nehemiah come to restore Jerusalem and God’s People as a place and time for Jesus.
The goals of OT worship can never meet God’s Holy Standards. Yet the Law and Temple must be set up for their final destruction....
In the mean time along comes Antiochus and The Maccabees and then Rome comes to restore the wooden yoke Daniel foretold. The end result is Jesus as The Passover Lamb slain for God’s People at the time appointed in the place appointed....
Ezra 3 is devoted to worship and culminates in the rebuilding of the foundations of the temple. It is not for nothing that we now fast-
