Mystery 6 The Gospel And The Christian Soldier (6:10-
“Mystery -
From the training and disciplined life of the Christian home, Paul takes us to the battlefield. (We have read how Paul is building Believers to maturity and putting to death the old darkness and the sinful natures of The World, the Flesh and The devil.)
A. The Christian life both in and out of the family is a continual conflict waged daily against a relentless foe. This battle demands the utmost courage, and from this warfare there is no discharge. We must know our LORD has determination, vigilance and undaunted hope – All these must come from Christ alone.
Our position in the heavenly places cannot be maintained on our own and yet this secure position is not without conflict.
B. It is important for us to know from the Word of God the character of the foe; we must know how to dress and use the armor necessary if we will know victory over the enemy.
Then Paul gives a summons to prayer, for ourselves and one another believing God is with us in this warfare. Paul writes what we should do as Christian warriors and why we should do it. We are to stand and withstand.
C. The devil is methodical in his work. If Christians were as methodical in resisting the devil, he would have fewer victories in our lives. The enemies are not human but superhuman, and superhuman enemies can’t be defeated by human means, so:
D. God provides us with divine equipment: the armor of God.

— We see Jesus’ victorious battle against the devil was all enabled in The Word of GOD. (Mat. 4 and Luke 4) This is our first and foremost example of warfare, and our assured victory within God’s provision for us.
