Mystery 4  The Mystery of Our Fellowship and ONE BODY IN GOD –

With Jesus Christ The HEAD (Ephesians 3:9 - 4:6)  (Body in 4:3-7)

A. The Mystery of Fellowship with Jesus Christ, Who created all things. (Eph. 3:9)

- Which will be made known to all powers and principalities and to The Church. ( 3:10)

- That we might have all boldness and access with confidence by the faith of HIM. ( 3:12)

- The Glory of GOD in Us (Eph 3:20-21)

- Walking Worthy of the Calling (Eph 4:1-6)

B. The calling, conduct, and unity of the Christian Body.

- We must consider the Christian life as a vocation, one to which we have been called. A Christian’s call comes at the time of his conversion and remains with him throughout life.

- Our conduct should correspond to the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Represent well in your walk as a Christian the One who is your Master.

- We are admonished to give diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

- The one body which stands first is the Church, the body of Christ.

C. The Ministry and Its Purpose (Ephesians 4:7-16)

- Each member of the body of Christ is called for a specific place and for a specific work, God giving gifts to fit us for this work. The gifts which are given to us are for the building up of the body of Christ in perfecting the saints.

D. Walking in Holiness and Righteousness Ephesians 4:17-6:9)   Christian Conduct (Ephesians 4:17-32)  The old life and the new life are brought into sharp contrast.

The old must be put off and the new must be put on; the old life is what we were before we became Christians. – The old life was full of falsehoods, sinful anger, dishonesty, evil talk, bitterness, clamor, slander and malice.

In Christ we have new life. A transformation has taken place—the miracle of being born into the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ. This brings us to contrast in: –  The new life knows kindness, tenderness and a spirit of forgiveness, truth, righteousness, honesty and edifying conversation.

E. Social Conduct (Ephesians 5:1-21)

Christianity requires that in Christ, love should exclude lust, light should exclude darkness, and wisdom should exclude folly.

Lust is from the flesh and love is from God. Once, as unbelievers, we were in darkness but now in Christ we have the light of the Gospel to guide us and we are to walk in the light and be children of light.

Paul emphasizes the walk of the Christian, and we find reference to this eight different times in this short epistle, always associated with our conduct and manner of our Christian life. Then, so living in Christ, not only will we be singing with our voices but our very lives will radiate a joy and be a melody. We, of all people, have something to sing about.
