Peter contrasts Past, Present and Future judgments.

He uses examples of angelic rebellion during the time of Noah’s Flood to show how judgment of our actions determine our future inheritances. Peter also refers to the sufferings of Christ which purchased our inheritance. Peter included the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah in the same contexts.

1Pet 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 2Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; (This event is also in Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.)

1Pet 2:5 The Temple is a shadow of the New Temple of believers being the living stones   2:13 God has set rulers and governments in place. Believers must be obedient  2:18 Servants obey your masters. Masters see your servants as brothers in Christ 2:21 Christ suffered as an example for believers

3:6 Wives take note of Sarah who obeyed Abraham  3:17 Suffering can be the will of God  3:19 see the note above regarding Jesus preaching to the spirits even from Noah’s time   3:21 Noah’s Flood is a type of baptism, which serves to show God’s saving grace

4:6 see note above 3:19, Jesus preached after His resurrection to those who were dead  4:12 The Fiery trial believers face will be light compared to the fiery judgment of the wicked  4:17 Judgment must begin at The House of God - Whose House we are

5:1 Shepherds take care to serve your flock all being led of The Lord  5:4 Jesus is The Chief Shepherd, Who gave His life for the sheep  5:5 Be not proud, remember God gives grace to the humble  5:8 The adversary - the devil roars like a lion seeking whom he may devour  5:10 God will give grace and make you perfect after you have suffered a while  5:13 The Church is in Babylon - amidst this dark world stand as lights

2Peter 2:1 There will be false prophets among the church, be watchful  2:4 Be mindful of the angels who sinned see note 1Pet 3:19   2:5 Noah saved himself and only 8 souls during The Flood  2:6 Remember Sodom and Gomorrah which was destroyed by judgment   2:7 Lot was righteous but he escaped with only his two daughters  2:10 Despise not governments, for God has set them as rulers in this world  2:15 Recall Balaam who sold his gift against God’s people

3:4 Creation gives witness of God even though some do not honor Him  :5-7 Judgment and Perdition awaits those who do not serve God       3:8 One day is as 1,000 years to The Lord, despise not His long suffering  :10 The Earth is reserved unto fire and destruction  :11 The       base elements will be dissolved  3:12 The Heavens will be rolled up as a scroll
