4. The Day of Trumpets is about declaring God’s Word and making connections with other believers. Matthew declares God’s Word by using many OT Quotes. See my page on this topic. All the way through Matthew, we notice how Matthew takes what is written and applies it to New Testament Living.

-Matthew often quotes from The OT. This reveals Him as a trumpet of truth connecting Jesus with The Old Testament.  While Matthew repeats the 10 Commands first given to Moses, we begin to notice how Jesus updates and magnifies The 10 Words. Jesus walks the walk and reveals the nature of The Word of God. Refer to the Menu on the ‘10 Commands.’

-Matthew also reveals Jesus selecting His Disciples and training them to walk in The truth.

-Mat often refers to His Father and His leading and Higher Authority. This concept relates to Trumpets in terms of The Kingdom being one of Submission to Authority, and Power given by God to His People.

-Mat closes his Gospel with a 10 Command review of Authority, teaching, baptism and Evangelism. All these concepts relate to Trumpets being declarations or announcements of God’s Word..

5. The Day of Atonement is the 5th Holy Convocation. The NT revelation of this day is two-fold. First, we see The Wedding of The Lamb offered to all who will Love Him and keep His commandments. Secondly, if any reject this offer of Love, there is Judgment and destruction. Matthew deals with these two choices several times in his Gospel.

-Matthew relates parables about The Wedding as Jesus presents Himself selecting His bride. Mat Chapter 22 gives parables about Marriage Suppers, etc. Mat 24 and 25 also have stories about The Marriage Supper, etc. God’s love is intended to draw us close to Him. As humans, we can relate to Love in marriage and family relationships. Some of those invited may reject God’s love and they are judged as a result.

Mat in Chapter 5 and 19 gives instructions, and warning about separation and divorce. The words Jesus and His opponents use regarding separation and divorce are important to differentiate. Simply put, those who are separated are not free until a divorce is finalized.

-Matthew also relates the discipline required of His disciples. Disciple(s) is used 75 times in Mat and only 272 times in all of the NT. So Matthew relates to discipleship more than any other Book.

6. The Feast of Tabernacles starts with Holy Convocation number 6. This is represented as The Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew. The Kingdom is available to anyone who is Born Again at Passover. The Plan requires believers to walk in each of the Holy Convocations as each Believer follows and grows into maturity.  This concept relates to believers living together as disciples with Jesus as our Lord. The Kingdom is present when Jesus is our King, but we must learn to walk with Him along the Path of Salvation.

-- Matthew writes 57 times about The Kingdom as He reveals how to live and walk with God. The main theme of Matthew is The Kingdom, The King, His Laws and His domain being both Heaven and Earth. We are like Jesus in this respect – We live in both the natural and in The Spiritual Kingdom.

- The Gospel of John deals with Tabernacles but from a more Spiritual Relationship. Matthew deals with The Kingdom in very down to Earth ways. Matthew relates more to relationships between humans where John is more about The Spiritual relationships. Matthew introduces us to The King.

- Matthew repeats the 10 Commands Ten times. For Christians this is a new concept, I was taught The Law was done away by Christ. But over 30 times in the New testament the 10 Commands are repeated from 1 through 10 in the same order they were given to Moses. Romans is the other Book that repeats the 10 Commands 10 times. John, Mark and Luke combined deal less with The 10 Words than does Matthew or Romans.

7. The Last Great Day of Tabernacles is revealed as a terrible Day of Judgment and Wrath for those who reject God’s Plan. For Believers, this Day is meted out slowly and lovingly as we are tested and overcome life’s trials…. Jesus is the perfect pattern of the sinless life. Only as we live and move in Him can we hope to overcome. HE is the beginning and the end of Salvation. Believers overcome tests at each of the 7 steps along the path to maturity. Thus the wrath of God should never come into play. Believers are trained as disciples and led always in love and mercy.

-Matthew 24 and 25 relates the dangers of rebellion and disobedience. This is the end result for those who do not submit to God’s will and plan. For believers who do overcome, every benefit becomes available as each one becomes more like Jesus. Most of The Parables in Matthew give both good advice and warnings of judgment for the rebellious.
